A.K. STROTZ + ASSOCIATES was established in Tiburon in 1976 by August K. Strotz, AIA, former managing partner of a large architectural firm in San Francisco. Over the past years, the firm has provided professional architectural, space planning and interior design services to medical, commercial, banking, legal, hospitality, residential and industrial clients throughout the Bay Area.

Our approach to design is to work sensitively with the client to incorporate the client's functional, financial and aesthetic concerns into the initial design concept. It is this sensitivity to the needs of the client that allows us to find resourceful solutions responsive to the unique requirements of each project.

QUALIFICATIONS Mr. Strotz has practiced architecture in California for more than 35 years, during which time he has been responsible for the design of over 4 million square feet of buildings, with a constructed value of over $500 million. He has direct design and construction experience in medical, commercial, educational, hospitality, residential and industrial building types.

In 1955, Mr. Strotz associated with the San Francisco firm of Anshen + Allen. During this period the Chapel of the Holy Cross, Sedona, Arizona, the Visitor Center at Dinosaur National Monument in Utah, and the 24-story International Building in San Francisco were completed under his direction and published.

In 1965, Mr. Strotz became a managing partner of Allen, Parker, Richardson & Strotz. The following eleven years resulted in Mr. Strotz' active involvement in the design and construction of numerous high-rise office buildings, eight Science Buildings for the University of California, two acute general hospitals, and the planning of a $30 million addition to the University of California, San Francisco, Medical Center.

Since 1976, Mr. Strotz has been President of A.K. STROTZ + ASSOCIATES, a California Corporation, and A.K. STROTZ INTERIORS. He has completed residential developments of 249, 141, and 130 units, as well as 4-story mixed-use buildings on Van Ness Avenue and in the San Francisco Marina. He has maintained a varied practice which has included eight Walgreens commercial projects. The firm is very active in the design of medical, industrial, residential, commercial and hospitality buildings as well as single-family custom residences.
